Alberta World Cup Academy welcomes coach Jon Arne Enevoldsen
Bringing perspectives as both an elite-level coach and athlete in biathlon as well as cross-country skiing, Enevoldsen also has significant wax room expertise. He has now relocated from Vermont to the Bow Valley for the 2008 – 2009 competitive season, which begins on December 6 in Vernon, B.C. Academy Racing Director Mike Cavaliere says that "With the arrival of Jon Arne, our team gains a strong experienced coach, who is committed to helping the Academy fulfill its program goals. Jon Arne increases our capacity to service athletes, and to offer coaching expertise and training through outreach to the Canadian cross country community." "Part of our core mandate is to ensure we have a first class pool of experts able to help develop skiing in Canada. Jon Arne joins our strength coach Rob Sofer, our medical support personnel, Dr. Jeannie Armstrong and Scott Dunbar, Athletic Therapist, as well as the coaching teams from our founding partners, in ensuring Alberta World Cup programs are delivered at an international level and able to grow. This position was made possible by the generosity of The National Cross-Country Ski Development Society. The Alberta World Cup Academy is an initiative of the Alberta World Cup Society, Alberta's cross-country World Cup event organizers, as well as Alberta's two largest ski clubs: Foothills Nordic Ski Club and Canmore Nordic Ski Club. Its mission is to offer Canada's cross-country ski racing community, specifically its Athletes, Coaches and Officials, a range of opportunities that will keep Canada, Alberta and the Bow Valley on the international map as a ski racer's training and competition destination.
