Canmore Nordic Ski Club - CNSC
The Canmore Nordic Ski Club has been in existence for over 20 years and formally organized under the provisions of the Alberta Societies Act for more than ten years. The CNSC is a strong grassroots/development club with over 500 members. Programs range from Jackrabbits (over 200), through Track Attack, and Junior racers, into Masters Training/Racing and Adult learn to ski programs. The club also has a very strong biathlon program.

The CNSC has co hosted a number of major events with the Foothills Nordic Ski club, including the Olympics, the Masters World cup and more recently the Alberta World cups. The CNSC's Rocky Mountain Ski Challenge is held annually. The CNSC has a program director, two year round coaches, and over 40 volunteer coaches, 30 being certified under the new NCCP system, to deliver the many programs offered. The CNSC is proud to have four club members currently on the National Ski Team, winter 2009.

The club is dedicated to Sport for Life and serving the community by providing quality programming for non-competitive and competitive athletes alike.

Foothills Nordic Ski Club - FNSC
Foothills Nordic Ski Club (FNSC) is an active club in Calgary. Incorporated in 1964, FNSC has a long history of touring, back country skiing, staging major events, organizing programs and developing elite cross-country and biathlon athletes.

During its first decade, FNSC also began staging and hosting ski races, a tradition it has kept up ever since. In 1988, FNSC was (along with the Canmore Nordic Ski Club) one of the host clubs for the Olympics. In 1995 it again paired with CNSC to stage the World Masters event in Canmore. FNSC also hosts one of Alberta's oldest and most popular loppets-the Kananaskis Marathon (KSM) (a.k.a. the Great Cookie Race).
Over the years, the program has grown and evolved, from one that initially served mainly adults, to one that now emphasizes the Foothills developmental theme.
Foothill's has also made a major investment to the development of high-quality coaching. For many years, the club has hired head coaches, and supported development coaches. The club has worked closely with the National Coaching Institute (NCI) at the University of Calgary.

For over 40 years, Foothills Nordic Ski Club has been a major presence in Nordic sports in Calgary and area. The club's evolution has seen a number of threads - instruction and coaching, hosting and officiating, touring and racing - woven together to make the club what it is today: a mature club for families and individuals dedicated to athletic development in all its dimensions and at all levels.

From CCCNEWS March 2007 - Foothills Claims National Club Crown for 6th Straight Year The Foothills Nordic ski program continued to shine at the 2007 Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championships in Quebec City as they again captured the Club Aggregate honours on Sunday over a field of 75 CCC clubs.
