Background:
Traveling back in time twenty years to a rural road connecting Salmon Arm to Enderby, we find Alysson Marshall bushwhacking in the woods with a pair of skis strapped to her feet. Born and raised in Salmon Arm, Alysson has made a career from her passion for the outdoors and adventure. Starting her racing career with the coaching support of her mom and later Lizzie Van Bergeyk, Alysson represented the Larch Hills racing rabbits program. As she gained momentum and committed more time, Alysson started training with Silver Star/Sovereign Lake under the direction of Doug Egan. The Rocky Mountains were calling, and Alysson moved to Canmore in 2008 to train full time with the Academy.
Alysson has a thoughtful, caring and intelligent personality. When paired with her positive attitude and work ethic, there’s no wonder she has found success in this sport. To date, Alysson’s ski career includes representing Canada at World Junior Championships, U23 Championships and World University Games as well as 11 World Cup starts and numerous National medals. Alysson’s natural speed rivals the top sprinters in Canada and around the World. At the 2012 World Cup in Stockholm she achieved her first top-30, finishing in 28th position in the classic sprint. She finished the 2011/2012 season as the winner of the Haywood NorAm Series and Teck Sprint series.
