The tenets of coaching development are that the Alberta World Cup Academy will:
- Work collaboratively with Cross Country Canada to prepare officials to organize and deliver cross country ski competitions at an international level of competence.
- Provide ongoing support to officials by preparing and conducting seminars and refresher courses as needed.
- Contribute to the development of new and effective teaching tools for officials.
- Provide support for Technical Delegates.
The intent of the AWCA is not to duplicate what is already being done by Cross Country Canada and Cross Country Alberta, but rather to supplement their programs and develop resources to fill in gaps.
The AWCA believes it is important to learn skills in a supportive environment, working side by side with a variety of experienced officials coaches and athletes, at real world events. Our goal is to ensure every official "really knows their job" and is prepared for every opportunity and challenge.
