Volunteer Services

The Alberta World Cup Society is hosting the upcoming Alberta Cup 1 & 2 Races (December 20 and 21st, 2008) and the NorAm/World Junior/Under 23 trials from January 2-6, 2009. Both races are at the Canmore Nordic Centre. As a result we are looking for keen and enthusiastic volunteers for these two events.

If you are interested in volunteering for either of these events, please let me know which area you would prefer to work (i.e. stadium; course control; timekeeping; race office; course; or in the volunteer centre) and which days you would be available.

Many thanks and I'll look forward to hearing from you. Jean Funk and I are coordinating this end of the organization together.

Greetings Volunteers,

The World Cup Society is organizing the following two competitions at the Canmore Nordic Centre in the 2008-09 ski competition season. We invite you to volunteer for the following events.

  • 2008: Alberta Cups 1 & 2: December 19 (training day) and Dec 20 & 21 (competition days)
  • 2009: Haywood Nor-Am, World Junior/U23 trials: January 1 (training day) and January 2 – 6 (competition days)
  • Where can I find more information on these races?

Check the Zone 4 and World Cup websites for the race notices; they will be posted soon.

Where is the Volunteer Services area?

Volunteer Services is located on the second floor of the Canmore Nordic Centre Day Lodge. Please check in and out daily, to receive your lunch coupon, for your safety and because your volunteer hours are used to match grant dollars for cross country skiing race management equipment. Over $100,000 of donated volunteer labour has been contributed by World Cup volunteers. Thank you!

Who can tell me the details of my shift times, meeting place and duties?

Please talk to your Chief or Team Leader. Volunteer Services can help to connect you with your Chief or Team Leader. They can also tell you who to contact if you are unable to work a shift. Not sure who to your Chief or Team Leader is? Please send Linda Dunbar an email.
