The Alberta World Cup Academy is very pleased to announce that Chris Jeffries will continue to lead the Academy next year as its High Performance Program Director.  The new Academy team will be announced at the end of April, and the training year will begin in early May, as usual.  Academy management personnel are currently working to hire an additional full-time High Performance Coach who will assist Chris in delivering the development program at the AWCA’s base in Canmore.

The Academy’s training program this year will continue to emphasize Junior and U25 athletes, while offering exceptional opportunities to train alongside the National Ski Team in the context of Cross Country Canada’s national training centre system.  Chris has achieved excellent results working in this multi-layered athlete development environment and is particularly attuned to the needs of younger athletes seeking to make their move to the next stage in their development as world-class athletes.  As a former Olympian, Chris understands what it takes to get to the highest levels in our sport.  He also understands what younger athletes need in terms of their Yearly Training Plan (YTP) and a supportive training environment.  With full support from an exceptional Integrated Support Team (IST) and using all the training opportunities available in Canmore, Chris’s leadership of the AWCA program promises to make 2016/17 another successful year.
