Opening Ceremony

Join us for the Opening Ceremony on Thursday, Feb 8th, at 17:30, right in the heart of downtown Canmore at the Canmore Civic Centre (902, 7 Ave). We’re excited to extend a warm welcome to all 19 countries participating in the World Cup.

The Opening Ceremony will prominently feature our Indigenous Partner, the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. Experience the captivating performances of The Drum Group comprised of Mînî Thnî Community School students, known as the Mînî Thnî Singers and the Mini Thni Powwow Academy Dancers.

Adding a touch of tradition and wisdom to the event, we’re honored to have a Stoney Nakoda elder lead a prayer for everyone present, including participants and spectators alike. Please note that this is an outdoor event, so be sure to dress warmly. But don’t worry; we’ve got warm tea ready to share with all attendees. Let’s come together to celebrate the spirit of the World Cup in the crisp Canmore air!
