CANMORE, AB – December 1, 2025 –
The Town of Canmore will celebrate Disability Week from Dec 3 – 7, 2025, in a renewed and inspiring way, fostering conversation, connection, and inclusion across the community.

The event is organized by the IDPD Committee, a collaboration of local partners including the Town of Canmore Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), Bow Valley Connections Centre, Vecova, artsPlace, Rocky Mountain Adaptive, Bow Valley Equine Adaptive, and dedicated community advocates.
Together, these groups are building on the momentum of last year’s revived celebration to raise awareness, honour achievements, and create more opportunities for individuals living with both visible and invisible disabilities.
Volunteers, spectators, athletes, and everyone in the surrounding community is encouraged to learn about all the events happening during Disability Celebration Week: HERE
During the FIS Para Cross-Country World Cup, a variety of programming will take place throughout the event week, creating opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate together.
To start, Rocky Mountain Adaptive (RMA) is hosting Try-It events. On December 3, the Official Training Day for athletes participating in the Para Cross-Country World Cup, RMA will offer an inclusive experience for persons with disabilities to experience the excitement of a World Cup up close. On December 6, during the Para Cross-Country World Cup Sprint Day, persons with disabilities can take part in another Try-It day and enjoy spectating at the races.
One of the main events to look forward to this December is the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. This year, the United Nations theme is “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
