Alberta World Cup Society Secures Prestigious International Event, Promising Significant Economic Impact
CANMORE, AB – The Alberta World Cup Society (AWCS) is thrilled to announce that Canmore, Alberta, has been awarded the rights to host the Masters World Cup for Cross-Country Skiing in 2029. This highly anticipated event will bring passionate Masters athletes from around the globe to the heart of the Canadian Rockies, showcasing Canmore’s world-class facilities and vibrant community spirit.

The decision to award the 2029 Masters World Cup to Canmore underscores AWCS’ proven capability to host major international ski events, building on a rich legacy of successful competitions. The event is expected to generate substantial economic impact, providing robust support for local businesses and the broader provincial economy.

The Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, a legacy venue from the 1988 Winter Olympics, will serve as the primary competition site. Recent $17.5 million investments in its biathlon building, stadium, and snow-making infrastructure further solidify its status as a premier Nordic facility globally.
