skitrax.com, February 17, 2015 (Vietalva, Latvia) – It was a beautiful day in Vietalva, Latvia as the Canadian team tackled Day 2 of the Latvian Championships, the 10 and 15k skate races. Temperatures were just below zero C. with beautiful blue skies.
Once again, there were Canadians on the podium as Kevin Sandau claimed top honours with a 28 second victory over team-mate Andy Shields in the men’s race. Third was Arvis Liepins of Latvia, 38 seconds back. Alexis Dumas finished 6th, 1.31 from the lead.
Cendrine Browne overcame some back tightness, that had kept her out of the sprint competition, to ski a great race. She captured the win a full 1:20 ahead of Alysson Marshall who finished 2nd. Third was Latvian racer Anda Muizhniece.
