Coach, Senior Development Team, National Ski Team
Chris joined the Academy in 2010 and became Head Coach in 2011. Prior to joining the Academy, he was Head Coach, Foothills Nordic Ski Club – one of the most successful club teams in Canadian cross-country history – where he lead the club to two Canadian Club Champion titles. He also coached at the 2009 World Junior Championships. As an Athlete, Chris competed in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. As a Member of the National Ski Team for 7 years, he also competed in the World Championships (2003, 2005) and numerous World Cups. He is a former National Champion in the 50km Classic (2006). Chris has his NCCP Level 3 certification and is completing his Level 4 with the National Coaching Institute in Calgary.
Coach, Alberta World Cup Academy
Stefan joined the Academy in 2011 following a successful career as an Athlete on the National Ski Team. As an Athlete, Stefan competed in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. His 15th place finish in the Men’s Sprint was the best result in Canadian history. As a Member of the National Ski Team for 15 years (1996-2011), Stef also competed in the World Championships (2007, 2011) and numerous World Cups. He is also a former National Champion. Stef’s practical knowledge and experience as an Athlete is a tremendous asset as a Coach. Stef has his NCCP Level 3 certification and is completing his Level 4 at the National Coaching Institute in Calgary.
Former Intern 2013-14, Alberta World Cup Academy
Alas, Lars is back in Germany this year. We enjoyed his enthusiasm in Canmore. Lars joined the Academy in 2013 from Germany after graduating from Leipzig University with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Sport Science. Lars competed on the World Cup for 4 years (2005-09) achieving a personal best of 21st place in the Team Sprint in Dusseldorf, Germany (2008). He is also a former member of Germany’s World Junior Championship Team.
